“Improve Douglas County and surrounding communities by positively impacting individuals and families through mental health and substance abuse treatment, homeless outreach, and peer support programs.”
So many precious lives are lost struggling in addiction, mental illness, or homelessness. Our family is dedicated to helping those in our community that cannot afford or find treatment services. We believe that addiction; mental health disorders, homelessness, and incarceration are linked to trauma and lack of community support. Through removing barriers and standing in the gap for people needing services and support we can save lives and strengthen our community. Since 2013 our 501(c) (3) non-profit has operated as a community resource center to connect families to services and strengthen relationships. Hosting annual community events celebrating individuals in recovery help establish a recovery culture. Building working relationships with other non-profit and government entities we increase community involvement and service referrals. Our active volunteer base of families dedicated to recovery provide peer support and facilitate outreaches to those living on the streets of Douglas County and offer support for reunification. Our goal is to health our community through building awareness and support for those suffering from Addiction or Mental Illness.
The Nichols Center changes lives and gives hope to the people in the community that nobody else Pays any attention to. Jaime
The Nichols center stands for hope for me; Hope in myself, in my recovery and in my community. I know that I have a place to go for support and people who don't judge. A place for personal growth, for learning about myself and life. I really enjoy the relapse prevention classes that the Nichols center provides to help me stay on track mentally. Katie
